The Renaissance Society, one of the finest resources for contemporary art in the world, is a place to experience the art history of generations past, and art that will be revered for centuries to come. When founded in 1915 by faculty from the University of Chicago, the Renaissance Society set out to include Chicago in the cultural liberty and controversy of Europe. Today, along with presenting art seldom seen in the Midwest, the Society also sponsors concerts, performances, film screenings, and lectures by contemporary artists.
