The Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities (PSPC) is a coalition of philanthropic organizations, in partnership with community groups and the public and private sectors, dedicated to reducing gun violence in Chicago. Since its inception in 2016, PSPC has created a coordinated grant making strategy that enables funders to leverage their combined investments and achieve greater impact across four key priority areas: Direct service, police reform, gun policy and Chicago Summer Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities. With support from PSPC, community groups in Chicago’s neighborhoods most affected by gun violence have room to try innovative interventions, reducing violence amongst individuals most at risk of shooting or being shot. For the first time, community organizations on the South and West Sides are sharing best practices, data, resources, and training to stem violence and its traumatic effects. This collaboration among organizations multiplies the effectiveness of their efforts.
